Fishing & Safari in Kenya
Day 01: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru.
Depart Nairobi and drive down the picturesque escarpment of the Great Rift Valley for the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park where most of the day is spent viewing game and the extensive bird life that call this Rift Valley Game Park home. Apart from the wildlife, including the black and white rhino species this game sanctuary also boosts of the largest Euphorbia candelabra forest in the world. All meals and an overnight stay at the renowned Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 02: Lake Nakuru - Kisumu City.
A mid morning start for Kericho, the tea growing centre of Kenya, stopping at the Kericho Tea Hotel for lunch and an afternoon tour of the tea plantations. An evening drive for Lake Victoria and the its main port of Kisumu City. Dinner and an overnight stay at the Imperial Hotel in Kisumu or similar.
Day 03: Kisumu City – Lwanda Kotieno.
The day is spent visiting the various attractions of this Lakeside City including the local museum which is rich in cultural and archaeological artefacts, Kit Mikaye - the rock that has a story to tell that is steeped in the mythology of the Luo people. Take a ferry to Lwanda Kotieno on the shores of Lake Victoria. You will arrive for dinner and overnight at Mbita Point.
Day 04: Mbita Point –Rusinga Island-Homa Bay.
After an early visit to the shores of Lake Victoria to see the swarming market as fishermen and other trades-people sell their wares for Tom Mboya mausoleum and Takawiri Island for fishing 1-2 hours (optional). Rusinga Island is a famous bird watchers' island and also home to the late Tom Mboya a prominent Kenyan politicians who was assassinated in 1969 and whose remains were interred in a Memorial Mausoleum on the island. Picnic lunches or hot lunch at Homa Bay. Return to Mbita Point, a major centre for insect study that hosts the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), for dinner and overnight.
Day 05: Mbita Point-Ruma National Park-Homabay.
An early an early breakfast, drive to Ruma National Park game drive in search of roan antelope found only in this park, Bohor’s reedbuck, Rothschild giraffe, Jackson’s hartebeest and the tiny oribi antelope are other rare species found here. continue to Homabay for hot/picnic lunch. Leisure on your own. Dinner and overnight at Homa Bay Hotel.
Day 06: Homabay-Rongo-Kisii
This day depart after morning breakfast for Kisii, famous for soap stones. Engage in investigating the local peoples' culture and visiting the market place at your own leisure. You will arrive after a long day for dinner and overnight at camp/lodge.
Day 07 & 08: Masai Mara
Full day game drives OR dawn and dusk game viewing in Kenya’s greatest National Park. The abundance and variety of game in this reserve is nothing short of amazing. Practically every mammal can be seen in the Mara with a few exceptions. Various antelopes, scavengers like hyena and vulture are common. The reserve contains all the cats that are; lion, cheetah and leopard; sighting leopard needs luck more than just being there but lions are abundant and there are excellent chances for spotting cheetah. Elephants, buffalo, the Masai giraffe, wildebeest and the common zebra abound followed by dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge
Day 09: Masai Mara - Nairobi
Morning game drive in search for lions, cheetahs etc. Then depart for Nairobi arriving in the evening.
